- Get honest about the risks and benefits of drinking. Challenge the benefits. If you think that you need alcohol to unwind, loosen up, have fun, bond with your friends, or socialize with the other gender, you may be wrong.
- Don’t keep a beer or other alcoholic products in the house. Chances are you will drink it.
- Keep a count of drinks you take in a day. This may help motivate you to figure out how many drinks to cut back.
- Cut down your drinking days. Start drinking later and quit earlier. Drink a bottle or glass of water/club soda after every beer.
- Limit your consumption at home.
- Hang out with people who will support your choice to cut back.
